Gives you something back

Riding an Xtracycle is a magical thing.

Sure, it’s practical, helps you exercise, invigorate your life and find an independence you may have thought never existed, but Marya hits the nail on the head with her initial impression of using and riding an Xtracycle:

A couple weeks later, Marya was sold. “This way of getting places just gives you something back”, she proclaimed. “When I drive I feel like I’m wasting my life away.” After just two weeks of pedaling my intellectually superior spouse was able to articulate what I had not after seven years. She also reported that when my son rides on the back of the Xtracycle, he likes to sing. “He’s my little radio”, she said. Can It get any cooler than that?

Electra Townie Xtracycle Cargo Bicycle Conversion

A year of researching, dreaming and reading about Xtracycles finally came to a head: Urbancommuter’s family just joined the Xtracycle family! Welcome to the fold.

I rode the electracycle the next morning. Hauled my 3 kids to school. They absolutely loved it. That to me, seeing them having a blast is worth more than anything. I have never stopped riding the bike since I installed the conversion kit. It was really a great choice for having to invest in one. I get to ride my bike more and get a good quick heart rate boost. I love it. Emphasis mine

Carrying Kids by Xtracycle

A few great videos from of users and their kids traveling by Xtracycle.

Xtracycle is busy working on an Xtracycle specific kid carrying system that will allow folks to carry 1 kid or two, and have specific seats for toddlers/kids above 40 lbs. We’ll keep you posted on this process and we hope to have these in production in early 2009. Until then, folks are using the PeaPod ($229) for the little ones and Magic Carpet ($39) + Footsies ($59) + Stoker Bar ($75) for the bigger kids.
